The average home price in New York City has always been some of the highest in the world. But in recent years, the borough’s housing market took on a new level. Although the average asking price in New York City rose a whopping 4.7 percent in the past year, there was still a slight decline in the number of homes that sold. Compared to the previous month, the number of listings went down by 1.6 percent and the number of sales fell by 2.2 percent. However, this was a much smaller drop than the average percentage change in the average price of the ten most expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan.

According to the Zillow home value index, the median home value in the city is around $772,277. It is calculated by taking the median of all estimated home values in the region and adjusting it for seasonality. In addition, it also includes the taxes and homeownership costs of buying and selling a home.

When it comes to the average asking price in Brooklyn, there are many neighborhoods that are more affordable than Manhattan. For example, Riverdale and Mapleton both have a median asking price of just under $360,000. And the median asking price in Queens was $599,450.

Among the most expensive neighborhoods, Tribeca and Noho both have a median sale price of over $2 million. But the median asking price in Brooklyn is only a part of the equation. If you want to buy a house in NYC, you’re going to need to spend at least $7 million.

The average asking price in Brooklyn is a record high in May, and it increased three months in a row. Similarly, the median sale price in Queens was up 4.4% from last year. Several neighborhoods in Brooklyn are priced at or near the same level as Manhattan, such as Park Slope and Fort Greene.

Another good indicator of buyer demand is the number of homes offering discounts and price reductions. In April, more than 10.9 percent of the homes for sale had such offers. There were also several properties that offered more than their listed price. A majority of the homes that sold for less than their listed prices were in the West Village and Tribeca, and a small percentage were in Manhattan.

Of the ten most expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan, none had an average sale price of under $2 million. Despite the higher prices, the median size of the homes was still a manageable 1,124 square feet. Considering that, the average cost of a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan is $4,750 per month.
